The GV80, a luxury SUV from Genesis, made its debut on the market in 2021 as the brand’s first SUV. While it may seem premature for a facelift to be in development, recent spy footage suggests that the South Korean automaker is already working on a mid-cycle refresh for this model. The exact launch date for this updated version remains unknown, but we do have an early preview of its possible appearance.

Kolesa.ru, a reputable source, was the first to reveal the camouflaged GV80 prototype, which was captured in a spy video last month. Through two digital drawings, the renderings depict subtle changes to the premium vehicle’s styling, including a new front bumper with larger air intakes, a new lower grille with a gloss black insert, and new internal graphics for the headlights. While the overall front fascia won’t be dramatically altered, these small details will give it a refreshed look.

The renderings also propose more radical tweaks to the back, where coast-to-coast LED strips connect the taillights, creating the illusion of a wider and more mature-looking SUV. Additionally, the current model’s two oval pipes will be replaced by quad exhaust pipes, although it’s unclear whether this design element will make it into the facelifted GV80.

One possible reason for Genesis’s speedy development of the GV80’s refreshed version is the introduction of a coupe-like model based on the GV80. Though the automaker has yet to confirm this, rumors suggest that it wants to debut both the GV80 facelift and the GV80 Coupe simultaneously, likely in the coming year.

It’s worth noting that the GV80 is currently sold in the United States with two engine options: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine and a 3.5-liter V6. While a diesel model is available in other markets, it is not offered in America. It’s likely that the same engine range will be available for the coupe-SUV version as well, but this remains to be confirmed by Genesis.
