Volkswagen ID. GTI Concept Revealed

Prepare to witness a groundbreaking transformation as the iconic hot hatch embraces an electrifying future. Volkswagen is leading the way with its retro-inspired ID. GTI Concept, set to debut at IAA Mobility 2023. This innovative concept aims to bridge the gap between 48 years of GTI history fueled by traditional engines and VW’s electrified vision.

The familiar red car before you might trigger memories of the VW ID. 2all Concept unveiled earlier this year. This resemblance is intentional, as Volkswagen’s designers drew inspiration from the GTI legacy while crafting the ID. 2all Concept. Sporting a mix of black and red accents, the design boasts sportier front and rear fascias, paying homage to the original Mk1 GTI. The taillights exude a darker aura, and a sleek wing atop the hatch seamlessly integrates with the black window trim. The iconic GTI branding is tastefully scattered throughout, reaffirming its heritage.

Beneath its captivating exterior lies a high-performance single-motor powertrain with an electronic differential lock for superior front-wheel control. The GTI Experience Control enhances customization options, allowing adjustments to suspension, steering feel, sound, and simulated shift points – an ode to GTIs of the past.

Inside, retro aesthetics merge with modern technology. The ID. 2all’s dual-screen digital interior continues in the ID. GTI Concept, offering classic gauge displays among various settings. Transporting you to the past, you can emulate the experience of driving a Mk2 GTI. Even more captivating, an augmented heads-up display projects track layouts onto the windshield, making it ideal for racetrack enthusiasts.

While the transition from concept to production remains shrouded in mystery, VW confirms that the ID. GTI Concept’s interior layout, featuring a 12.9-inch center screen, a 10.9-inch driver display, and tactile controls, is a near-production representation. VW’s resounding statement affirms that the ID. GTI Concept provides a first look at the exciting GTI future that awaits production.

Despite its performance focus, the ID. GTI Concept maintains its practicality, accommodating five passengers and a generous 17.3 cubic feet of cargo space. To catch a glimpse of this electrifying vision, mark your calendar for IAA Mobility 2023, where the ID. GTI Concept will make its grand entrance on September 5th.
