In an extraordinary twist of events, Porsche is allegedly gearing up to reveal a remarkable new automobile on the 75th anniversary of the first-ever Porsche vehicle registration.
Renowned Porsche aficionado and humorist Spike Feresten has purportedly disclosed the official debut date of the enigmatic automobile. Feresten shared with fellow comedian and Porsche enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld on the Spike’s Car Radio podcast that the mysterious model will make its grand entrance on June 8th. The significance of this date? It marks 75 years since the inception of the Porsche brand, with the registration of the 356 “No.1” Roadster on June 8, 1948.
The upcoming car from the Zuffenhausen-based company won’t be the first to carry the “ST” moniker, as it was previously utilized in the early 1970s for featherweight racing vehicles. So, what can we anticipate? A nostalgically inspired special edition, founded on the 911 Carrera T, but powered by the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine found in the more formidable GT3. As a result, expect an impressive 503 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque.
The 911 ST is set to succeed the Targa 4S Heritage Design but with a lighter touch, incorporating carbon fiber doors and roof. Interestingly, Autocar refers to insiders close to Porsche who suggest it will be the lightest 992.1-generation model ever produced. Envision it as this generation’s 911 R. Spy images have revealed GT3-esque hood vents, centerlock wheels, and a distinct double-bubble roof.
As is customary with limited-edition 911s, a low production volume and a steep price tag should accompany the exclusivity.
