Porsche 911 Turbo S vs 911 GT3 Which Would You Choose?

The German automaker Porsche has once again impressed with the 992 generation of the Turbo S. This car boasts a powerful 650 horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine, paired with an all-wheel-drive system and a lightning-fast double-clutch PDK gearbox. The result is a car that launches like a rocket and keeps pulling with ease.

But what sets the Turbo S apart from other high-performance vehicles is its ability to seamlessly transition from a dramatic, high-powered machine to a calm, comfortable daily driver. Some may argue that the Turbo S is more suited to wear a “GT” badge, rather than the GT3, but Porsche had other plans.

The 911 GT3, on the other hand, is a car that is specifically designed for the track. Its name comes from its connection to Porsche’s FIA GT3 class race car, and it is often described as a road-going version of the race car. While the GT3’s interior may not be as refined as the Turbo S, it is still a pleasant place to be in and its main focus is speed and agility on the track.

When comparing the Turbo S and the 911 GT3, it’s a classic case of strength versus agility. The Turbo S is all about raw acceleration power, while the GT3 is honed for the circuit. However, don’t be fooled into thinking that the GT3 is weak or frail, as it packs a powerful punch with a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine that produces 503 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Although it is not as powerful as the Turbo S in terms of torque, it still packs a punch.

When it comes to lap times, the 911 GT3 is the clear winner. On a relatively short track, the GT3 set a new lap record with a time of 42.4 seconds, while the Turbo S clocked in at 42.9 seconds, only half a second behind. While the GT3 may be the better choice for track performance, the Turbo S offers a more well-rounded package with its practicality and everyday livability. For those who want the ultimate in track performance, however, the 911 GT3 or GT3 RS is the way to go.
