New 2025 Mazda CX-70 Revealed

Mazda’s 2025 CX-70 is a new mid-size SUV, positioned as a more compact and sportier alternative to the larger CX-90. It offers seating for five and shares many features with the CX-90, including the platform, powertrains, and some body design elements, making it appealing to those who like the CX-90’s style and performance.

The CX-70’s interior closely resembles that of the CX-90, minus the third row of seats. It features an optional red leather interior with black accents, unique to this model, along with high-quality materials and gray plastic trim styled to mimic carbon fiber.

Technologically, the CX-70 aligns with the CX-90 but introduces Amazon Alexa integration for voice-controlled functions and connectivity with home devices. It also includes a safety feature for unresponsive drivers, capable of stopping the car and activating hazard lights in emergencies.

The CX-70 shares its powertrains with the CX-90, offering a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six engine in two power variants and a plug-in hybrid option combining a 2.5-liter engine with a battery and electric motor. It features rear-biased all-wheel drive and notable towing capacities, with the hybrid model expected to offer an electric-only range of about 30 miles.

Despite having the same wheelbase as the CX-90, the CX-70 is shorter, mainly due to reduced rear overhang, resulting in a spacious cargo area. Pricing for the CX-70 has not been announced but is expected to be lower than the CX-90, with estimates suggesting a base price around $38,000, potentially reaching up to $57,000 for a fully equipped model. This pricing strategy places it competitively against models like the Honda Passport.
