The Mercedes-AMG G63 Cabriolet by Refined Marques is an exclusive vehicle, limited to only 20 examples worldwide, has a price tag of 1.2 million Euros which is approximately $1.32 million with today’s exchange rates. The G-Class series has seen convertibles in the past, but this is a first for the G63 variant.
Improvements such as rear doors that open in the opposite direction for easier access, increased legroom at the back, and a more user-friendly mechanism for the roof and trunk.
The engine of the 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 Cabriolet is a formidable 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, delivering a robust 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This power level is comparable to other high-performance SUVs like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Lamborghini Urus, and Range Rover SVR.
Reflecting on the past, the G500 Cabriolet Final Edition 200 was the last convertible version of the G-Class from Mercedes, with a production limit of 200 units. It featured a 5.5-liter V8 engine, offering 388 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. While not the rarest, it stands among the more unique Mercedes models.
Additionally, the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet deserves mention. Based on the G63 4×4 Squared, it combined Maybach opulence with a convertible design, highlighted by a power-operated soft top for the rear. Jon Olsson also created his own dramatic version of this convertible.
The development of this car spanned 18 months, with a team in Germany, comprised of Formula 1 and supercar experts, focusing on refining the roof mechanism. In contrast to the cumbersome process with the G500 Final Edition, the new roof system is streamlined – just apply the brake, release latches on both sides, press a button, and it opens, even while driving.
The unveiling of the first car (numbered 1 out of 20) happened last weekend in Monaco. It boasted a China Blue exterior, red leather interior with blue stitching, and a red soft top. However, each of the remaining 19 cars will be distinct, with customizable options for paint, roof color, and interior specifications.
