Lotus Eletre All Electric 905HP SUV Hit 60 MPH In 2 99 Seconds

Lotus, a renowned British sports car manufacturer, is entering the electric SUV market with its new Eletre. Built in China and set to go on sale in the U.S. in 2023, the Eletre promises to deliver strong acceleration despite its considerable weight due to its large battery pack. With at least 600 horsepower from its electric motors, Lotus aims to compete with other electric SUV models, such as the Audi e-tron and BMW iX. The Eletre’s design also bears a striking resemblance to the Lamborghini Urus.

2024 Lineup:
As a completely new addition to Lotus’ lineup and the company’s first SUV, the Eletre will be offered in Base, S, and R configurations. With a starting price below $85,000, we recommend the base or S trim for maximum range. Both trims feature a 603-hp electric powertrain and an estimated driving range of approximately 315 miles per charge.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance:
The Eletre’s base powertrain, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivers 603 horsepower. According to Lotus, this allows the Eletre to reach 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds. The top-spec R trim boasts an impressive 905 horsepower, reducing the zero-to-62-mph time to a mere 2.9 seconds. While Lotus has not revealed specifics about the Eletre’s suspension or handling, we expect its first SUV to offer a fun-to-drive experience with crisp handling.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life:
With a 112.0-kWh battery pack, Lotus claims that base and S models will offer a driving range of 373 miles on the European WLTP cycle. This equates to a U.S.-specific EPA rating of around 315 miles per charge. The high-performance Eletre R’s range is less impressive, estimated at 302 miles on the European WLTP, or about 250 miles per EPA’s guidelines. Our real-world 75-mph highway fuel economy and driving range test will provide further insights once we have an Eletre to test.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe:
As the EPA has not yet released fuel economy estimates for the Eletre, we have not tested the electric SUV ourselves. Upon testing, we will update this article with the results of our 75-mph highway fuel economy route. For more information about the Eletre’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo:
The Eletre will be available as either a four-seater with two individual rear buckets or a five-seater with a three-place rear bench. Its cabin showcases unique materials, including microfiber, stitched leather, wool-blend fabric, and milled bronze accents. Highly-bolstered sports seats in the interior hint at the Eletre’s performance potential.
