2024 Porsche Cayenne Explained

In a striking display of innovation, the revamped 2024 Porsche Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe make their grand entrance after a captivating promotional campaign. The upgrades encompass exterior enhancements, a reimagined dashboard, and substantial powertrain advancements. Orders are now open in the United States, with deliveries anticipated to commence this summer. The official debut is set for the Auto Shanghai show.

The base Cayenne persists with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, now boasting 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet – an increase of 13 hp and 36 lb-ft.

Featuring a turbocharged V6, the Cayenne E-Hybrid now sports a more potent electric motor, generating 174 hp. Consequently, the total output climbs to 463 hp—an 8-hp increment. The battery capacity expands to 25.9 kilowatt-hours from the previous 17.9 kWh. Range estimates remain elusive. Furthermore, a new 11-kilowatt AC charger facilitates home recharging in under two and a half hours.

With the Cayenne S, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 replaces the former V6 engine. The eight-cylinder powerhouse yields 468 hp and 442 lb-ft, elevating it by 34 hp and 37 lb-ft compared to the six-cylinder version. With this engine, both the standard and Coupe models can achieve 60 mph in 4.4 seconds when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package. The maximum speed is 169 mph.

At the top of the line, the Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT now features a 650-hp variant of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8—an upgrade of 19 hp. This model can reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and boasts a top speed of 189 mph. Additionally, the Turbo GT comes equipped with performance-enhancing features such as rear-wheel steering, air suspension, ceramic-composite brakes, and titanium exhaust pipes as standard.

The Cayenne, S, and E-Hybrid models now come with two-valve shocks offering separate rebound and compression stages, as well as standard Porsche Active Suspension Management. According to Porsche, this updated configuration enhances pitch-and-roll control.

The new air suspension system, standard on the Turbo GT, is available as an option for other models. Porsche asserts that this arrangement offers a more discernible contrast between Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus driving modes.

Aesthetic Evolution
The 2024 Cayenne maintains a recognizable look, albeit with noteworthy refinements. Matrix Design LED headlights are now standard, featuring a marginally sharper design. Porsche also introduces a new hood and redefines the fenders. At the rear, redesigned taillights maintain a consistent height across the back. Three fresh color options join the lineup: Algarve Blue Metallic, Montego Blue Metallic, and Arctic Grey.

The Cayenne Coupe can be equipped with an optional Lightweight Sport Package, which trims 72 pounds from the vehicle’s weight. Porsche has yet to reveal specific details about this package.

Inside, the 2024 Cayenne’s dashboard diverges significantly from its predecessor. Drivers now have a standalone, curved 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster before them. Steering wheel controls enable easy display mode switching. A new stalk to the left of the wheel manages driver assistance systems. Lane change assist and lane keep assist are now standard features.

The remodeled center stack incorporates a standard 12.3-inch infotainment display. The gearshift is now positioned on the dashboard between the two screens. An angled console section houses a combination of switches and capacitive buttons for HVAC controls. A 15-watt inductive charging tray is added for the driver’s smartphone.

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne presents an optional 10.9-inch screen situated on the passenger’s side of the dashboard. This state-of-the-art component empowers passengers to effortlessly manage the navigation system or even indulge in video streaming. To maintain safety, a specialized layer on the display prevents the driver from glimpsing the screen’s contents.
