Ferrari 296 Challenge in Detail

Ferrari has recently pulled the curtain back on its latest creation, the 296 Challenge. This high-performance machine is poised to make its grand entrance in the 2024 season of the Ferrari Challenge, taking center stage at the Mugello Circuit during the Finali Mondiali event. With the 296 Challenge, Ferrari continues its legacy in the single-make championship, which is celebrating its 32nd season with the introduction of this remarkable ninth model.

At the core of the 2024 Ferrari 296 Challenge lies a familiar power source: a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine. What sets this car apart is its departure from hybrid technology, a choice that allows Ferrari’s engineers to fully unleash the V6 engine’s potential. Now, it delivers an impressive 690 horsepower and a robust 546 pound-feet of torque. While the road-going version of this six-cylinder engine offers “only” 663 hp, the combined power output is significantly higher thanks to the electric motor, boasting a total punch of 830 hp.

Ferrari takes pride in the engine’s performance, highlighting its record-breaking power within its segment, with an astonishing 234 horsepower per liter. What’s more, the 296 Challenge makes history by being the first race car to feature a 120-degree V6 configuration in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli’s illustrious history. Such power requires responsibility, and this track-only beast is well-prepared with carbon-ceramic brakes, an upgraded ABS system borrowed from the 296 GTB, and brand-new 19-inch Pirelli tires, custom-designed for its demanding racing applications.

But the excitement doesn’t end there. The 296 Challenge boasts a cutting-edge aerodynamic package that contributes to its ability to generate over 870 kilograms of downforce when it reaches 155 mph. This achievement sets a new record for downforce in a race car built for a single-make series.

Ferrari enthusiasts and motorsport fans will have the opportunity to witness this exceptional track-focused machine in action at the Mugello Circuit in Italy. The showcase is scheduled to coincide with the Finali Mondiali event, running from October 24 to 30. It’s an event no one should miss, as Ferrari once again pushes the boundaries of performance and innovation with the thrilling 296 Challenge.
