New 2024 Mercedes AMG E 63 W214 Rendered

Thanks to our friends at Kolesa, we have a few renders of the 2024 Mercedes-AMG E 63 to share and explain what we expect from the new super family hauler.

In a bold move, the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG E63 W214 is set to exchange its V8 powerhouse for a cutting-edge straight-six plug-in hybrid mechanism, endowing it with enhanced potency and the ability to operate solely on electricity. Slated for a 2024 debut, the exhilarating E63 will pave the way for Mercedes-AMG models incorporating the novel electrified propulsion system, echoing the ‘P3’ hybrid configuration present in the recently unveiled GT 63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupé and C63 S E Performance.

Though official specifics are yet to be disclosed, the upcoming E-Class is anticipated to incorporate a significantly overhauled iteration of Mercedes’ M256 turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six gasoline engine. This powerhouse, positioned longitudinally, will cooperate seamlessly with an electric motor situated on the rear axle.

The E63’s electric motor is believed to resemble the design and capabilities of the 201-horsepower unit employed by other electrified 63 models, as per AMG insiders. A 4.8kWh 400V lithium-ion battery, housed beneath the trunk floor, supplies the necessary electrical energy. AMG’s ambitious goal for the new drivetrain reportedly exceeds 700 horsepower and 884 lb-ft of torque.

To put things in perspective, the departing E63 S’s M177 twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine generates 604 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque.

With this formidable new setup, the E63 is poised to surpass its predecessor’s performance metrics, which boast a swift 3.0-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration and a maximum velocity of 186 mph.
