Electric Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept Truck Detailed Look

The electric Ram Revolution has finally been revealed in its concept form, much to the excitement of fans who have been eagerly awaiting its arrival. The concept truck is packed with features, but the exact specifications such as range, towing capacity, payload and charge time have yet to be disclosed. Ram has only stated that the Revolution will be a leader in these areas.

Externally, the Revolution is a substantial departure from its internal combustion counterpart, taking design cues from the Silverado EV. The Revolution is built on a new platform called the STLA Frame, which has been designed specifically for electric vehicles. It features a body-on-frame design with the battery mounted between the frame rails and two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear. This layout allows for a longer cab and a similar length bed, compared to the current crew cab 1500.

The Revolution also has a unique exterior design, with a wider and flatter hood, sharp creases on the fenders and wheel arches that can accommodate up to 35-inch tires. Other aerodynamic elements include flush-mounted door handles, sideview cameras instead of mirrors, a flat undertray with diffuser and a dramatic swooping line between the cab and bed.

The bed of the Revolution has some innovative features, including a GM-style mid-gate that can be powered, a pass-through into the front trunk for long and narrow items, and split barn doors for the power tailgate. The interior is minimalist and includes two 14.2-inch infotainment screens, a retractable steering wheel for autonomous driving, and biometric cameras that recognize the driver and set the truck up accordingly.

One of the biggest surprises is the inclusion of a third row of seats, which are mounted to the mid-gate and can be deployed as needed. The interior also features eco-friendly materials, such as leather made from apple byproducts and a floor made of recycled rubber and cork. Other features include an AI assistant that can respond to voice commands, a storage app, an electrochromic roof, an exterior projector and a wireless charging robot.

While specific details about the Revolution’s power and range have not yet been disclosed, it is expected to top 400 miles of range to compete with the Silverado EV and Sierra EV, and have a towing capacity of 20,000 pounds. The truck will have air suspension with self-leveling and multiple ride heights and will have the option for four-wheel steering. The battery system is 800-volt with peak charging speeds of 350 kW and the ability to add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes. The spaces where the motors are located are designed to accommodate even larger versions for more powerful Ram variants.
