Ares Modena S1 Based On C8 Corvette Stingray

Ares Modena, formerly known as Ares Design, has taken an interesting approach in its marketing and press materials for their latest creation, the S1. Curiously, there is no mention of the Chevrolet Corvette C8, which serves as the foundation for this remarkable vehicle. However, upon closer examination, the specifications reveal intriguing details.

The S1 boasts a robust engine, measuring 6,162 cubic centimeters and featuring 16 valves. Additionally, it comes equipped with a specially crafted exhaust system and an eight-speed transaxle. A quick glance at the photo gallery highlights the distinctive design elements of the vehicle. The rear of the coupe is adorned with a remarkable engine cover that integrates two exhaust outlets, a feature seldom seen on a Corvette. Adding to the allure are the gullwing-style doors, a touch of exoticism rarely associated with this iconic American sports car. Another unique characteristic is the single wiper, which gracefully sweeps across the expansive wraparound windshield. Notably, the rear of the vehicle showcases a spine-like trim piece that seamlessly incorporates the rearview camera. Positioned amidst the aerodynamic diffuser is an F1-style light, serving as a reversing light rather than a brake light.

The S1’s exterior is crafted using carbon fiber, but the enhancements do not end there. Glossy carbon-fiber vents are strategically placed in the front and rear fenders, further enhancing the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal. Ares Modena also made modifications to the wheels and tires, replacing them with 20- and 21-inch alloys wrapped in 275/30 ZR20 and 345/25 ZR1 rubber, respectively. In comparison, the Z51-equipped Stingray sports 245/35 R19s in the front and 305/30 R20s in the rear.

Inside the cabin, several changes catch the eye. Notably, the center console features a push-button gear selector that is unmistakably reminiscent of the C8. The steering wheel, despite bearing the Ares Design logo on the airbag cover and Z button, is identical to the one found in the C8.

Surprisingly, Ares Modena has taken a bold step by replacing the landscape-oriented touchscreen of the infotainment system with a portrait-oriented touchscreen. What’s more, the passenger is also treated to a display of their own. Renderings released by Ares Modena indicate that the passenger can control the music and access performance data through this screen.

As for pricing, it remains a mystery, only to be disclosed upon request. However, it is worth noting that Ares Modena intends to produce a limited run of just 24 units of the speedster variant. Impressive performance figures have been associated with the S1, with reports suggesting a blistering zero to 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) time of 2.7 seconds. Under the hood, the LT2 small block engine allegedly revs to an astonishing 8,800 rpm, while delivering a potent 522 kW of power, equivalent to 700 horsepower. This represents an impressive 205 horsepower increase compared to the Stingray with the NPP exhaust. Intriguingly, Ares Modena claims to have developed bespoke engine control unit software to unlock such extraordinary performance.

In conclusion, Ares Modena’s S1 showcases a unique and captivating approach to the renowned Chevrolet Corvette C8. With distinctive design elements, carbon fiber enhancements, and impressive performance upgrades, the S1 stands as a remarkable testament to the coachbuilder’s craftsmanship and ingenuity.
