2022 Volvo C40 Recharge Design Explained

While the Volvo C40 Recharge offers all the advantages of an SUV, it has a lower, sleeker design. With its CMA structure, it is the first Volvo model in history to be offered only in a 100% electric version.

Following the launch of the XC40 Recharge and now the launch of the C40 Recharge, Volvo Cars will unveil several other electric models in the coming years.

By 2025 already, the brand predicts that all-electric vehicles will represent 50% of its global sales and plans to market only hybrids elsewhere. From 2030, all cars sold are expected to be fully electric.

“The Volvo C40 Recharge embodies the future of Volvo and shows the way forward,” says Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer. “100% electric and offered online with practical services, it can be delivered quickly. Buying a new Volvo has never been easier. “

At the rear, the C40 Recharge displays a striking design perfectly in line with the lower roofline. As for the front, the design introduces the new face of Volvo electric models and includes headlights with advanced pixel technology.

Available in multiple colors and with several model-specific customization options, the interior of the C40 Recharge offers the high driving position dear to fans of the brand. It is also the first Volvo vehicle not to incorporate any leather element.

Like the XC40 Recharge, the C40 Recharge offers one of the best infotainment systems on the market, jointly developed with Google and based on the Android operating system. Users can take advantage of built-in Google apps and services, such as Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store *.

Connectivity on board promises to be excellent. The C40 Recharge will also be subject to remote software updates (“over the air”), which means it will continue to improve even after it leaves the factory.

The propulsion comprises two electric motors – one on the front axle, the other on the rear axle – powered by a 78 kWh battery, which can be recharged to 80% in around 40 minutes *. The expected range is around 420 km * and should improve over time with future software updates.

As announced, the all-electric Volvo C40 Recharge will be available online. In its desire to reduce the complexity of its model range and prioritize attractive preconfigured versions, Volvo Cars has greatly simplified the C40 Recharge offering.

The purchase of a new Volvo C40 Recharge may be accompanied by services such as maintenance, warranty, assistance, but also insurance and home charging solutions *.

Production of the C40 Recharge will begin this fall at the same Volvo Cars manufacturing facility as the XC40 Recharge in Ghent, Belgium.
