2024 Toyota Tacoma Truck – All We Know So Far

Toyota is making a promise to keep things fresh in 2024 with the updated iteration of its best-seller, the Tacoma. Reports suggest that the new Tacoma will have a turbocharged and hybrid four-cylinder engine instead of the V6 engine. However, the official debut is yet to be confirmed.

Here’s everything that we do know about the upcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma. Firstly, it is expected that the new Tacoma will not look significantly different from the current model. However, patent images filed in Brazil indicate a moderate makeover that still maintains the truck’s iconic rugged good looks but adds hints of Tundra DNA throughout. The new Tacoma will have sharper headlights and taillights similar to the Tundra, with a slightly larger grille design on the front end.

Some renders have been created by Kolesa, which provide an idea of what the new truck might look like. New official images also show unique details such as a “TOYOTA” wordmark in the grille for upper trims like the TRD Pro and an LED light bar within the hood.

The Tacoma’s interior is set for a significant redesign. Spy photos have revealed a fully redesigned steering wheel and a new shifter moved closer to the driver with an electronic parking brake. The dash also appears to be entirely digital with a larger touchscreen and a new corresponding instrument cluster screen.

As for the engine, rumors suggest that the current V6 engine will be replaced by two four-cylinder options. The base engine will be a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder borrowed from the Highlander. The optional unit will be a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor equipped.

Toyota confirmed the hybrid rumors with a teaser image of the truck’s tailgate. The tailgate features an I-Force Max badge like the one found on the larger Tundra, confirming the Tacoma’s hybrid powertrain. Toyota will use the same TNGA-F architecture for the Tacoma that underpins the Tundra, making it slightly bigger.

Although the TNGA-F platform can support electrification and the company has plans for EVs down the line, Toyota hasn’t confirmed if there will be an all-electric version of the Tacoma with this generation.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is expected to debut this year before going into production later in 2023.
