2023 Volkswagen Polo GTI Edition 25

The Polo GTI came to production in 1998. As it celebrates its quarter-century birthday, this performance-focused subcompact hatchback is getting spruced up with a special edition to commemorate this significant moment in its history. This exclusive version, limited to a run of 2,500 vehicles, is set to be priced at €35,205 on the German market.

Poised for ordering beginning the first of June, the Polo GTI Edition 25 is a spectacle of aesthetics rather than an exhibition of enhanced power. The heart of its powertrain remains the same: a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The stalwart 2.0 TSI stays the course, churning out 204 horsepower, or 152 kilowatts, and a torque figure of 236 pound-feet, which equates to 320 Newton-meters. This power is dispatched to the car’s front wheels through a slick seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. This efficient configuration facilitates a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in a swift six and a half seconds.

By default, the Polo GTI Edition 25 boasts a sporty suspension setup, hunkering the car’s body down by 15 millimeters, or a modest 0.6 inches. To further sweeten the deal, Volkswagen’s engineers in Wolfsburg have incorporated an electronic differential lock and adaptive matrix LED headlights into the package. This limited-edition model from the B-segment rolls on 18-inch Adelaide wheels, coated in a glossy black finish that matches perfectly with the darkened side mirror covers and roof. Potential owners are presented with a palette of paint options to personalize their ride, including Smoke Grey Metallic, Pure White, Ascot Grey, Reef Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl Effect, and Kings Red Metallic.
