The GV80 SUV joins the lineup of G70, G80 and G90 sedans with more than a common thread of design identity. The interior and exterior styling of GV80 was a collaboration among Genesis Design studios located in South Korea, the United States and Germany.
The interior of GV80 focuses on “the beauty of white space,” characteristic of the elegant South Korean architectural philosophy. The concept of “luxury in space” defines the open feeling of the cabin of GV80, with the G-Matrix pattern as a motif.
The all-new GV80 SUV expands the lineup and is designed and engineered to deliver a powerful statement, both visually and from behind the wheel. Helping to deliver that statement are a pair of brand-new engines.
Clients who choose GV80 in the United States can select from either a 300-horsepower, 2.5-liter, turbocharged, inline four-cylinder engine or a 375-horsepower, 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. These new Genesis engines ensure that clients have the luxury of class-leading power at their disposal.
An in-house developed, 8-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment and optimized for use with both new engines. Of note, GV80 employs a widened gear-ratio span that improves vehicle acceleration and helps deliver better fuel economy.
An electronically controlled all-wheel drive system is available on GV80 2.5T and standard on GV80 3.5T models. The new system features a focus on system and weight efficiency. In normal driving conditions power distribution varies from front (0% up to 50%) to rear (100% down to 50%). In steady-state driving, front torque is minimized to aid efficiency.
In keeping with the Genesis brand’s safety priorities, the GV80 debuts both first-ever and innovative segment safety technologies within a range of standard active and passive safety systems. Notably, the GV80 leverages leading machine learning technology while building upon the advanced driver-assistance systems of previous Genesis models with the intent of providing a safer, smoother and more enjoyable driving experience.
