Race Driver Romain Grosjean Lamborghini Urus Performante

Renowned race car driver Romain Grosjean, who has an extensive background in Formula One and Lamborghini, is gearing up for his next venture: a pivotal role in Lamborghini’s pursuit of victory in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship. In two newly released Lamborghini films, the Swiss-French star delves into the electrifying allure of endurance racing, shares his thoughts on Lamborghini’s recently announced LMDh contender, and reflects on how the events of the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix impacted his life and personal philosophy.

Having relocated to Miami, the 36-year-old Grosjean amassed an impressive 179 race starts in Formula One over the course of nine seasons, ranging from 2012 to 2020, with additional appearances in 2009.

Expressing his fondness for endurance racing, Grosjean shares, “I am enamored with endurance racing. When I moved to the United States, participating in the Daytona race was a deep-seated desire, and the opportunity arose with Lamborghini. I adore the atmosphere and the privilege of representing such an iconic brand. In your twenties, your sole focus is on being the fastest. However, as I’ve grown older, I relish having teammates. It’s not solely about individual performance but also about ensuring that our team stands out on the racetrack. It revolves around compromise and ensuring the contentment of everyone involved.”

Elaborating further, he continues, “There exists a profound sense of trust among us, and the most significant challenge lies in the endurance aspect – for everyone, including the mechanics and engineers. As drivers, we have the comparatively easier job – we get to rest! Endurance racing demands that one anticipates the unexpected and remains prepared for any eventuality.”

In addition to the FIA World Endurance Championship, which features the renowned and immensely demanding Le Mans 24 Hours race, the LMDh prototype will also participate in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in North America.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming project, Grosjean exclaims, “I am tremendously thrilled to be part of the LMDh project for the following year. I deeply admire the brand, appreciate the project’s nature, endorse the approach, and hold the people behind it in high regard. I am fully aware that significant work lies ahead, and we will all face a steep learning curve, but I am prepared. Lamborghini is a brand that thrives on success, one that boasts a rich heritage. Therefore, when we embark on a venture, we must do it with utmost precision.”

Grosjean’s life took an unexpected turn during the opening lap of the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix when he experienced a terrifyingly high-speed collision that left him trapped in his Haas VF-

20 for 28 agonizing seconds as a fierce inferno raged around him. Widely regarded as one of the most harrowing incidents in recent Formula One history, Grosjean reflects on how the crash and its aftermath have profoundly influenced his perspective.

“My accident precipitated a significant shift in my outlook. True bravery lies in continually pushing oneself beyond perceived limits. It entails challenging oneself and embracing life’s beauty. I had never realized how swiftly life could be extinguished until that moment. Paradoxically, because my life has improved since the accident, I consider it a positive experience. I strive to savor life to a greater extent, to revel in each day. While I acknowledge the inherent risks in my pursuits, I have also established personal boundaries.”

A devoted family man, Grosjean possesses a wide range of talents, including his culinary expertise and recent pursuit of aviation. His insatiable thirst for new experiences knows no bounds.

Returning to solid ground, Grosjean finds equal exhilaration in another mode of transportation: his Lamborghini Urus Performante[1]. He proudly remarks, “It is an incredibly thrilling vehicle to drive. The Performante produces an awe-inspiring sound, and despite being an SUV, it unmistakably embodies the essence of Lamborghini. Moreover, it offers ample space for my children.”

However, the diverse range of colors available in Lamborghini’s exceptional palette presented a challenge. Grosjean reveals, “My daughter desired purple or pink. My eldest son favored orange, while my second son insisted on yellow. As for my wife, she preferred black. Consequently, I made the executive decision and declared, ‘Alright, everyone, we shall opt for green. After all, it is my car, and I have the final say…'”
