NEW 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 All That We Know

The new 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has been captured testing at the Nürburgring with glorious V8 exhaust sound.

It is suggested that this prototype might have exceeded the noise limit of 130 decibels mandated at the renowned German circuit. Whatever the reason behind this, the ZR1 makes quite a racket and seems to possess the performance to match its enticing soundtrack. It is speculated that the engine’s melodious tones come from a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 borrowed from the Z06.

While the Corvette Z06 boasts a naturally aspirated configuration with 670 horsepower at its disposal, the ZR1 is rumored to incorporate a pair of turbochargers. This forced induction setup is said to elevate the power output to a colossal 850 hp, but it’s crucial to note that this figure remains unconfirmed. The LT6 engine residing within the Z06 can rev all the way up to 8,600 rpm and delivers a peak torque of 460 pound-feet. The addition of two turbochargers is expected to provide a substantial increase in torque. According to an internal document disclosed by Hagerty in April 2020, the torque figure could soar to an impressive 825 lb-ft.

As observed in the spy photographs, Chevrolet conducted tests involving various wing designs at the Green Hell this week. The illusion of a split rear window, reminiscent of the 1963 Corvette C2, which we spotted on a heavily camouflaged test car at a gas station in Colorado last month, seems to have disappeared, as these prototypes feature conventional glass.

Anticipate the ZR1’s launch next year as a 2025 model year vehicle. However, its reign as the highest-performing Corvette C8 may be short-lived, as there are reports of Chevrolet developing a twin-turbo Zora hybrid with a potential power output of up to 1,000 hp, 975 lb-ft, and all-wheel drive. Furthermore, an all-electric variant based on the Ultium platform has been officially confirmed. In the meantime, the mid-engine supercar has already undergone partial electrification with the E-Ray hybrid.
