New 2023 Peugeot 508 GT Debut With New Face and Updated Tech

Undoubtedly one of the most alluring cars beyond the luxury segment, the Peugeot 508 is receiving a comprehensive update that introduces various changes inside and out. The midsize sedan and wagon pair undergo a transition to the updated lion badge and corporate grille, which is flanked by slimmer headlights. The redesigned headlights feature matrix LED technology, with the signature three-claw design for the daytime running lights now integrated into a single piece.

Stepping inside, both the 2023 508 Sedan and SW receive an updated 10-inch infotainment system and a redesigned gear selector, which is now standard across the range for the eight-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the engine chosen, various driving modes and suspension settings are available. Behind the small steering wheel is a fully digital 12-inch instrument cluster.

The engine lineup kicks off with a three-cylinder, 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 130 horsepower. Additionally, for the African, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets, Peugeot offers a larger four-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine that generates 218 horsepower. Alternatively, customers can opt for the four-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbodiesel engine that produces 130 horsepower.

For two-wheel-drive models, two plug-in hybrid powertrains are available that combine a 150hp or 180hp gasoline engine with an 81-kilowatt electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 180hp and 225hp. Furthermore, the 508 PSE model comes with a 200hp gasoline engine and an 81-kW electric motor that’s connected to the automatic transmission, as well as an 83-kW electric motor at the rear. Together, these powertrains produce 360hp, which is distributed to both axles.

The trio of PHEV models uses a 12.4-kWh battery pack that can be charged using a standard 3.7-kW charger or an optional 7.4-kW charger, which comes as standard on the flagship PSE model.

The updated 508 will be available for sale from Peugeot dealerships starting this summer.
