Lamborghini LB744 Aventador Successor Weight Saving Tech Explained

As the highly-anticipated debut of the new Lamborghini Aventador replacement draws near, a fresh teaser has been released to provide auto enthusiasts with a glimpse of what’s to come. With the current “LB744” codename, this V12 plug-in hybrid supercar is set to be a game-changer in the automotive industry. It will feature a monocoque that has been recently developed and entirely constructed from carbon fiber, a material inspired by aeronautics.

The innovative monofuselage design of the new Lamborghini will reduce weight by 10% when compared to its predecessor, and it is said that torsional stiffness has increased by 25%. This approach to constructing the monocoque from carbon fiber is not only cutting-edge, but it also speaks to Lamborghini’s commitment to creating high-performance vehicles with an eye toward sustainability.

One of the standout features of the new LB744 is its front structure, which is entirely made of carbon fiber. This is a first for a super sports car, and it is a testament to the strides that have been made in carbon fiber technology over the years. The use of carbon fiber is not only beneficial in terms of weight savings, but it also has the potential to improve safety. In the event of a collision, the carbon fiber used for the front cone structures can absorb double the energy of the metal structure installed in the Aventador Ultimae.

To achieve the desired weight savings for the new LB744, Lamborghini will be utilizing patented technology called “Forged Composites.” This technology was first introduced back in 2008 and has been refined over the years to make it more effective. In addition to the carbon fiber construction, the new Lamborghini also makes use of high-strength aluminum alloys at the rear. This is achieved with two hollow castings for the shock towers and powertrain suspension, which are then integrated into a single component. This approach reduces welding lines and boosts rigidity, all while cutting weight.

It’s clear that Lamborghini has gone to great lengths to create a vehicle that is not only fast and powerful, but also environmentally conscious. The addition of the electric motors and the 3.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack required some dieting to offset the added bulk, which the old Aventador did not have.
