Koenigsegg Regera Faster Then Rimac Nevera in 0-249-0 MPH Record Run

Just a short while ago, the Rimac Nevera made headlines by becoming the fastest production car to hit 249 mph (400 km/h) and come to a stop. However, this record has now been surpassed by an older hypercar, as Koenigsegg proudly introduces the Regera, which has shaved off more than a second from the previous time. In just 28.81 seconds, the Regera completed the same task that took the Nevera 29.94 seconds.

Koenigsegg, a Swedish automaker with a knack for record-breaking, utilized the Regera back in 2019 to achieve a 0-249-0 mph run in 31.49 seconds, improving upon the Agera RS’s previous time of 33.29 seconds set in 2017. Koenigsegg poses the question, “Why break these records with a car that has long since left the production line?” The answer is simple: because it can! The Regera continues to reign as the undefeated champion in today’s fiercely competitive automotive industry, and this achievement deserves recognition in the form of a new record.

But hold on, there’s more! The Regera now holds the title for the fastest road-legal vehicle to reach 250 mph (402 km/h) and then come to a stop, accomplishing this feat in a mere 29.6 seconds. Racelogic meticulously measured the mind-boggling acceleration and braking capabilities of this hypercar, which was originally launched way back in 2015.

As for the locations where these two records were set, the Regera was taken to Örebro Airport, located west of Stockholm, Sweden’s capital city. The choice of this venue was deliberate due to its elongated runway spanning an impressive 3,274 meters (10,741 feet), allowing the twin-turbo V8 engine to truly unleash its power. Koenigsegg mentions that the surface of the runway was smoother compared to previous high-speed runs, and the car was equipped with the latest Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.

It’s highly unlikely that we’ve heard the last of Koenigsegg’s record-breaking endeavors, as they have been dropping hints that the Jesko Absolute will be even faster. As for the Regera, the final unit of the limited production run, comprising 80 cars in total, was delivered in 2022.
