Ferrari has unveiled an exclusive car, the 499P Modificata, designed specifically for non-competitive track use, marking their return to the top tier of endurance racing in 2023. This unique vehicle is a modified version of the 499P, which clinched victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, and it aims to redefine the thrill of track driving.

Unlike typical race cars, the 499P Modificata is not built for competition. This allows Ferrari to make alterations that are usually restricted by Le Mans regulations. One significant change is to the electric motor on the front axle, which can now operate at lower speeds, offering greater all-wheel-drive capabilities.

Another notable addition is the “Push to Pass” feature. With a simple press of a button on the steering wheel, the driver can access an extra 161 horsepower for seven seconds when the accelerator is fully engaged, temporarily boosting the power output from the standard 697 horsepower to an impressive 858 horsepower.

Furthermore, Ferrari has made several minor adjustments to the Modificata. These include enhancements to the engine and drivability maps, as well as updates to the traction control and start-assist systems.

Under the hood, you’ll find a mid-mounted 3.0-liter V6 engine, derived from the 296 GT3 race car. What sets it apart is that it’s an integral part of the car’s structure, rather than being mounted on a subframe. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a seven-speed sequential gearbox.

Inside the Modificata, the cabin mirrors the design of a Le Mans racer, featuring a single-seat layout designed for optimal ergonomics.

Ferrari has also introduced the Sport Prototipi Clienti program alongside the 499P Modificata. This initiative takes care of logistical support, on-site assistance, and maintenance, ensuring that customers can enjoy their track experience hassle-free.

While Ferrari has not disclosed the production numbers or pricing details for the 499P Modificata, it’s safe to say that owning a modified Le Mans champion will come at a substantial cost. Nevertheless, for enthusiasts seeking the ultimate track-day experience, this exceptional car is sure to deliver unparalleled excitement.
