Electric Chinese Supercar BYD Yangwang U9 is an Amazing Value

In a thrilling disclosure, BYD’s elite sub-brand, Yangwang, has publicized the unveiling of their spectacular U9 supercar at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18. The announcement, which surfaced on Yangwang’s Weibo page, was accompanied by a series of tantalizing images featuring the electric supercar.

Emerging as a high-class luxury EV marque under BYD’s umbrella, Yangwang astounded the world with the unexpected revelation of the U9 on January 5, alongside the sophisticated U8 SUV.

The refreshed footage highlights notable alterations to the vehicle’s facade. Apart from the striking shift in hue, elongated side skirts now accentuate its sleek profile, while a stunning electric spoiler – absent from the conceptual model – makes its debut. Furthermore, the headlamp configuration, which previously garnered disapproval from the Chinese online community, appears to have been refined. The car’s rear fascinates with its arresting horizontal dot matrix LED taillights, as exaggerated diffusers vie for attention.

Resting on BYD’s avant-garde Yisifang EV platform, the Yangwang U9 boasts four electric motors, generating a combined force of 1100 horsepower and 1280 Nm.

BYD had formerly declared the U9’s potential to achieve zero-to-hundred acceleration in a mere 2 seconds. The supercar will be equipped with BYD’s cutting-edge Blade battery pack, offering a minimum of 100 kWh, which translates to an impressive CLTC driving range of approximately 700 kilometers.

Slated for a grand entry into the Chinese automotive market later this year, the Yangwang U9 electric supercar is expected to retail from one million yuan, or around $150,000. While this price point may seem exorbitant for a BYD or other Chinese vehicles, it remains a competitive proposition for a commanding 1100 horsepower machine.
