2024 Genesis GV80 Coupe Revealed With 409 Horsepower

Genesis unveiled the GV80 Coupe Concept at the 2023 New York Auto Show, signaling its intention to bring this striking concept into the realm of production. Without much ado, Hyundai’s luxury division is now introducing the real-deal version in South Korea, with plans to start selling it on October 11. Alongside this coupe-SUV fusion, Genesis is also rolling out an updated iteration of the conventionally styled GV80.

As anticipated, the GV80 Coupe stays true to its roots, closely resembling the show-stopping concept displayed in the bustling streets of the Big Apple. It cruises on exclusive 20- and 22-inch wheels, upping the ante on style. The sporty roof spoiler, a signature trait carried over from its concept predecessor, remains intact, and for the flagship variant, there’s a quad exhaust system. Genesis is pulling out all the stops, offering its first-ever coupe-SUV with a glitzy dual mesh radiator grille and an extensive palette of 13 exterior colors. Among them, a unique Bering Blue shade stands out, reserved exclusively for this model.

However, the real differentiator lies within the vehicle’s cabin. The production model surprises with its expansive 27-inch infotainment screen, resembling a massive single unit rather than a pair of displays haphazardly glued together. The gear selector and infotainment knob dials boast a swanky crystal finish, reminiscent of the high-end sophistication found in top-tier BMW models. In a shift from the concept’s bucket seats and individual rear seating arrangement, the production model opts for more plush leather-lined seats, complemented by a three-passenger rear bench.

Every corner of the cabin exudes a premium ambiance, from the two-tone steering wheel and genuine wood trim to the leather upholstery and sleek aluminum accents. Adding to the vehicle’s appeal, the center console incorporates capacitive-touch climate controls, and the rear seats offer the flexibility to recline for enhanced comfort or increased practicality, catering to your needs. With a choice of five interior colors, including three new additions – Glacier White, Earth Brown, and Bordeau Brown – buyers can truly personalize their GV80 Coupe.

Turning our attention to the powerhouse beneath the swoopy SUV’s hood, the base model relies on a turbocharged 2.5-liter gasoline inline-four engine, delivering a respectable 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up the performance ladder, you’ll find a larger twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, packing a punch with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. For those craving even more oomph, the same V6 engine, now equipped with an electric supercharger, churns out an impressive 409 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque.

In a generous move, Genesis has also graced the regular GV80 with these enhancements, ensuring that both SUVs receive the same level of attention to detail and performance upgrades. These remarkable vehicles are set to take the stage at the 2023 Busan International Film Festival next month, captivating audiences with their captivating designs and cutting-edge features.
