Aston Martin Returns to Le Mans With Valkyrie Hypercar

An advanced racing version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the ultimate hypercar, is gearing up for a significant challenge as it embarks on its mission in the 24 Hours of Le Mans starting in 2025. This high-stakes endeavor has received essential backing from Aston Martin’s accomplished endurance racing partner, the Heart of Racing (HoR) team.

Aston Martin is set to enter at least one Valkyrie racecar into the Hypercar class of two prestigious competitions: the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships (IMSA), both commencing in 2025. Consequently, the prototype Valkyrie will showcase its prowess in three of the most renowned sportscar racing events: Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Over the course of 95 years, more than 240 drivers have taken the wheel of Aston Martin vehicles at Le Mans, spanning 27 different chassis and engine combinations across various eras. This illustrious history has solidified Le Mans as a symbol of Aston Martin’s enduring success and unwavering commitment to competition. Thus, in the year marking the marque’s 110th anniversary, it’s only fitting to announce its triumphant return to the ultimate endurance race with the Valkyrie, the epitome of hypercar engineering.

Upon receiving homologation, the Heart of Racing team will spearhead Aston Martin’s campaigns in both the WEC and IMSA. The Valkyrie race car will make history as the first purebred hypercar to grace both championships, setting it apart from its rivals and establishing a connection to an existing production car.

Aston Martin’s entry into the Hypercar class signifies its comprehensive involvement in endurance racing, spanning from amateur racers to the sport’s pinnacle. Starting in 2025, Aston Martin will hold a unique position as the sole manufacturer participating in all levels of sportscar and GT racing, from Hypercar to GT4, as well as the FIA Formula 1® World Championship.

This extensive involvement is made feasible by Aston Martin’s commitment to develop and prepare brand-new GT3 and GT4 cars based on the Vantage platform. These vehicles will adhere to both existing and upcoming GT rule sets, including the new LMGT3 regulations set to replace the outgoing GTE class in WEC starting in 2024.

The upcoming GT contender is anticipated to compete in various championships, including WEC, IMSA, and the SRO-run GT World Challenge Series, along with internationally-based regional competitions. Aston Martin Racing’s existing partners and prospective customers will have the opportunity to acquire and compete with these new GT cars starting from the beginning of the 2024 racing season.
