Bentley Bentayga Art Car

In its ongoing mission to become a more inclusive luxury car manufacturer, Bentley Motors is introducing the ‘Belonging Bentayga.’ This unique Alpine Green Bentayga Hybrid is a canvas of diverse skylines and iconic structures from around the world. Cities like New York, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Venice, Tokyo, and Hong Kong find their place on this remarkable vehicle, with each side symbolizing a different continent. The artwork, portraying 29 distinct landmarks, is the creation of Stephen Wiltshire MBE, a British architectural artist renowned for his extraordinary ability to sketch landscapes after a single viewing.

This marks the first instance of Bentley employing hand-painting techniques at its Crewe factory, a process developed in collaboration with the Bentley Excellence Centre Bespoke Paint team.

The design goes beyond just architectural landmarks; it also incorporates depictions of people from various nationalities, uniting the world’s diversity in a single design. The ‘Belonging Bentayga’ is the third artistic creation unveiled by Bentley as a testament to its dedication to diversity.

Wayne Bruce, Chief Communications and D&I Officer, expressed the company’s delight at collaborating with Stephen, saying, “This remarkable car celebrates Bentley craftsmanship and Stephen’s unique artistic genius. It’s also a key element in our Beyond100 strategy, which includes our industry-leading, five-step diversity and inclusion plan.”

Bruce also emphasized Bentley’s diverse workforce, comprising individuals from 52 different nationalities, crafting and selling luxury cars in 67 countries. He noted that the Belonging Bentayga’s striking imagery sends a powerful message – no matter where you are, you belong.

Stephen Wiltshire, reflecting on his journey and the project, commented, “Buildings have a way of telling a story…I believe Bentley and the Belonging Bentayga relate in the same way, bringing people together, creating a journey, creating memories.”

Wiltshire’s incredible talent blossomed from a unique childhood. Diagnosed with autism at the age of three, he initially communicated through drawings rather than words. His sketches, intricate cityscapes with a touch of humor, have earned global acclaim.

In 2021, Bentley Motors embarked on a five-step strategy to enhance diversity and inclusion at its Crewe-based facility. This strategy encompasses outreach, recruitment, succession planning, culture, and development. To commemorate the launch of this initiative, Bentley’s design team crafted the Unifying Spur, a work of automotive art that celebrates diversity in all its forms. This masterpiece, created by Bentley designer Rich Morris, is inspired by the Progress Flag’s nine colors and represents the unifying power of humanity.

Additionally, Bentley introduced the rainbow-inspired Continental GT V8 Convertible in July 2020, signifying pride in its global workforce and hope for the future during the COVID-19 crisis.

In conclusion, Bentley’s ‘Belonging Bentayga’ is a remarkable testament to the brand’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. With its hand-painted representation of global landmarks and diverse people, it sends a powerful message of unity and belonging, echoing the company’s broader mission to create a more inclusive future.
