Futuristic BMW M12 by Anthony Zhao

Car Designer and Digital Artist Anthony Zhao created this futuristic BMW M12 inspited by the BMW Italdesign NAZCA M12 from Italdesign Giugiaro that was powered by a 5.0L V12 engines derived from the then-BMW 750i and 850i engines. It has an acceleration of 3.7 seconds to 100km and a top speed of 325km/h. Unfortunately, due to its high cost, BMW did not follow up with mass production.

Now, 30 years later, the trend of electrification is sweeping the world. Anthony also knew that BMW will never be able to build a speed monster with a V12 petrol engine anymore. If it did, it would inevitably be an electric supercar. So how to reinterpret the BMW M12 flagship with a more futuristic design?

The supercar design language of the electric and digital age is destined to diverge from that of the fuel age. Therefore, compared with the sense of speed pursued in the design of traditional sports cars, he wanted to give this car more sense of technology.

In terms of the vehicle’s proportional design, it still maintains the characteristics of the mid-engine supercar of the original NAZCA M12.

Anthony is also a music producer so he first made a short electronic music with the theme of “university-civilization-crossing”, and then drew a storyboard inspired by this song, and finally made the animation. The overall style theme is consistent with the design theme, telling the story of a higher intelligence body from the depths of the universe through the wormhole and finally come to the earth, the end of the film is a tribute to the film Arrival.
