2024 Volvo XC60 Black Edition

The horizon of automotive progress introduces the 2024 iteration of the Volvo XC60, now featuring the Black Edition variant. Primarily visual in nature, this update is exclusive to the top-tier Ultimate trim.

The 2024 XC60 Black Edition showcases an exterior dressed in Black Onyx paint. The vehicle’s aesthetic is further refined through the inclusion of a glossy black logo and wordmark, accompanied by 21-inch gloss-black, five-spoke alloy wheels on all four corners.

Inside the XC60 Black Edition, the cabin boasts a black headliner and charcoal interior. Volvo offers two upholstery choices for the seats: ventilated Nappa leather in charcoal or a combination of Nappa leather, leatherette, and textile sport seats. Complementing the interior are mesh aluminum accents and an Orrefors crystal gear shift knob.

The 2024 XC60 B5 Ultimate Black Edition has a starting price of $58,595, which encompasses the $1,095 destination charge. For those interested in the XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Black Edition, the price starts at $70,045.

The B5 variant is equipped with a four-cylinder engine incorporating 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. This powertrain produces 247 horsepower, allowing the crossover to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds. On the other hand, the T8, functioning as a plug-in hybrid, generates 455 horsepower from its configuration and can reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Additionally, its 18.8-kilowatt-hour battery enables it to travel up to 35 miles in pure-electric mode.

Drawing parallels to the S60 Black Edition introduced in 2022, the XC60 Black Edition presents itself as a kindred counterpart. The S60 sedan was available in Onyx Black and Crystal White Metallic paint options, accompanied by black 19-inch rims, black lettering, and other visual enhancements. The 2022 S60 Black Edition was constrained to a production volume of fewer than 450 units.

Unlike its S60 predecessor, Volvo has not announced any production limitations for the 2024 XC60 Black Edition. This particular crossover holds the distinction of being Volvo’s top-selling model in the US, contributing to 15.5 percent of the brand’s sales growth through June. Notably, this model constitutes almost a third of the total sales volume for the brand in the American market.

The brand’s overall sales depict a growth of 21.9 percent, with the S60 sedan experiencing a rise of 4.8 percent. Conversely, Volvo has experienced challenges in the UK market, leading to the discontinuation of the S60, V60, and V90 models.

Volvo has communicated that the 2024 XC60 Black Edition will soon be available for ordering, with deliveries slated to commence in early 2024. This signals another chapter in Volvo’s offerings, as customers await the opportunity to engage with this new iteration and contribute to its narrative.
