2024 Subaru WRX TR Preview

The 2024 Subaru WRX TR is set to make waves as it prepares to hit the stage at Subiefest Florida on October 7, marking its global debut. This high-performance variant of the WRX promises some noteworthy upgrades that are sure to catch the attention of enthusiasts.

One of the standout improvements is in the performance department. Subaru has gone to great lengths to enhance the WRX TR’s driving dynamics. They’ve introduced stiffer springs, adjusted damping rates, and fine-tuned the steering rack, all of which contribute to sharper handling and better control on the road. The inclusion of standard 245/35 R19 wheels with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires further enhances grip, providing confidence in various driving conditions.

But it’s not just about handling—the braking system has also received significant attention. The WRX TR boasts Brembo six-piston front calipers and two-piston rear calipers, all painted in a striking red hue. Paired with larger pads, rotors, and an upgraded brake master cylinder, this setup delivers superior stopping power and a more responsive pedal feel. The larger front discs measuring 13.39 inches (340 millimeters) ensure even more effective braking.

Under the hood, the WRX TR retains Subaru’s 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine, churning out 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This power is harnessed by Subaru’s renowned all-wheel-drive system, with active torque vectoring, ensuring confident and thrilling performance.

Inside the cabin, the TR trim introduces Recaro seats for both the driver and front passenger. These seats, adorned in a stylish black and gray Ultrasuede material, offer exceptional support during spirited driving. The driver benefits from an eight-way electric adjustment feature, adding to the overall comfort and control.

A curious detail about the US-spec WRX TR is the absence of the prominent fixed wing seen on the Australian model. Instead, Subaru has opted for a body-colored integrated spoiler, creating a distinctive look.

While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, Subaru plans to unveil them later this year. For reference, the WRX Limited with a manual gearbox starts at $38,515 after accounting for the $1,020 destination fee.

In essence, the 2024 Subaru WRX TR stands out with its performance enhancements, stylish interior updates, and intriguing design choices. It’s poised to be a thrilling addition to the WRX lineup, offering improved handling, impressive braking capabilities, and the promise of an exciting driving experience. Keep an eye out for more information as Subaru unveils pricing and availability details in the coming months.
