Chery Australia has officially introduced its first all-electric vehicle, the Omoda E5, marking a significant step towards sustainability in its local lineup. This sleek electric vehicle is designed with a futuristic crossover aesthetic and aims to offer eco-conscious consumers an alternative within the Chery range.
The Omoda E5 is powered by a single electric motor that delivers 150 kilowatts of power and 340 newton-meters of torque, providing a driving range of up to 430 kilometers under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). This ensures drivers can enjoy longer trips without the constant worry of recharging.
Available in two variants, the BX starts at $42,990, and the more premium EX version is priced from $45,990. Both models are equipped with impressive technology, including dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an 18-inch alloy wheel design. The EX model adds even more luxury, featuring multi-color ambient lighting and a powered sunroof.
Performance-wise, the Omoda E5 accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 7.6 seconds. It also boasts a low power consumption of 155 watt-hours per kilometer, making it an efficient option for daily driving. The fast-charging capability allows the battery to be recharged from 30 percent to 80 percent in under 30 minutes using a direct current fast charger.
Safety is a priority with 7 airbags and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. The Omoda E5 also comes with a comprehensive warranty of 7 years with unlimited kilometers, 7 years of capped price servicing, and 7 years of roadside assistance.
Set to debut in showrooms this September, the Omoda E5 is poised to make an impact alongside other Chery models like the Omoda 5, TIGGO 7 Pro, and TIGGO 8 Pro Max.
