2024 Subaru Crosstrek Debuts For US

The latest iteration of the Subaru Crosstrek, destined for North America, has finally arrived. This vehicle, presented at the 2023 Chicago Auto Show, boasts some remarkable differences compared to its Japanese counterpart. Not only are we privy to its pricing, but we’ve also got the details on what sets the North American Crosstrek apart.

In terms of power and performance, the North American Crosstrek is exclusively all-wheel drive, a feature that Subaru enthusiasts have come to expect. In comparison, the Japanese market offers a cost-effective front-wheel drive option. American customers also have access to a more robust engine option in the Sport and Limited trims: a 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder that packs a punch with 182 horses. The Sport trim is uniquely recognizable with its yellow exterior trimming and interior contrast stitching. However, the Hybrid trim is not available for now. On the other hand, base and premium trims offer a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque.

It’s important to note that although these engines and their specs are similar to the previous Crosstrek model, the latest version is being marketed as a new generation Crosstrek. It’s slightly longer and has a thoroughly updated interior, which includes a 7.0-inch center screen as standard or the option for an 11.6-inch Starlink multimedia system. The vehicle’s chassis has also been stiffened by 10 percent, and the electronic steering rack has been borrowed from the WRX.

Despite being slightly longer, the new Crosstrek offers slightly less cargo space with the rear seats folded at 54.7 cubic feet. The ground clearance of 8.7 inches remains unchanged from the previous model, making it just as capable for off-road adventures.

As for pricing, the starting price of $24,995 for the base Crosstrek is almost the same as the 2023 model, but it’s important to keep in mind that the price doesn’t include the destination and delivery fees, which have increased by $70 to $1,295. This brings the starting price of the 2024 Crosstrek to $26,290.

To break it down by trim level, all Crosstrek models come standard with all-wheel drive, a CVT, and Subaru’s Eyesight driver-assist technology. Base and Premium trims with the 2.0-liter engine will be manufactured in Gunma, Japan, while Sport and Limited trims with the 2.5-liter engine will be built in Lafayette, Indiana. The lower-spec trims are expected to reach dealerships in the spring, with the 2.5-liter powered trims arriving in the summer.

So there you have it, a fresh take on the next-generation Crosstrek for North America, ready to conquer any terrain with its all-wheel drive capability and impressive performance.
