2024 Peugeot 3008 with Panoramic i Cockpit Interior Revealed

Peugeot’s i-Cockpit made its debut in 2010 with the SR1 concept, and a few years later, it became a reality in the 208 supermini. Now, in 2023, the French automaker is taking the unconventional dashboard layout to the next level with the Panoramic i-Cockpit, set to make its first appearance in September on the upcoming 3008 model. This new iteration features a 21-inch curved display, mounted high up on the dashboard, curving gently towards the driver.

But that’s not all. Peugeot has also introduced i-Toggles as part of this setup, located on the center console. These 10 touch-sensitive buttons can be customized to suit the preferences of both the driver and the front passenger. By doing so, Peugeot has reduced the number of traditional controls to a minimum, resulting in a minimalist design that emphasizes the idea that less is more.

To achieve the uncluttered look, Peugeot made some additional changes. The gear lever has been replaced with PRND buttons, located to the right of the start/stop button on the dashboard. This not only frees up storage space but also increases the surface area of the wireless charging pad for smartphones. Furthermore, the slim left and center air vents have been merged to create a more unified and sophisticated appearance.

But the innovation doesn’t stop there. Peugeot has also added touch controls on the compact steering wheel. One can only hope that these controls prove to be more effective than those found in certain other cars. As a matter of fact, Volkswagen recently faced criticism regarding their touch-sensitive keys on the steering wheel and has pledged to return to conventional controls.

In order to create a cozy ambiance, Peugeot has incorporated ambient lighting that spans the entire width of the dashboard and door panels. This lighting can be customized with a choice of eight different colors, which are reflected on a real aluminum trim. The Panoramic i-Cockpit, showcased here in the range-topping GT trim level of the 2024 3008, will be implemented in upcoming models in the years to come, including the next-generation 5008.

In conclusion, Peugeot’s latest evolution of the i-Cockpit brings forth an array of innovative features and design elements. With its curved display, customizable i-Toggles, streamlined controls, and ambient lighting, it aims to enhance the driving experience while maintaining a sophisticated and modern aesthetic. Peugeot’s commitment to pushing boundaries in automotive design is evident in the Panoramic i-Cockpit, promising an exciting future for their forthcoming models.
