2024 Mercedes Benz CLE Coupe Teased Ahead Of Official Reveal On July 5th

Mercedes-Benz has provided a sneak peek of the all-new CLE coupe through a profile photo on its official Facebook page. The announcement reveals that this two-door model will make its debut on July 5 at 11 AM Eastern Time (5 PM Central European Summer Time).

This upcoming coupe is set to replace not one, not two, but four models from the German brand’s lineup as it adopts a simplified approach with its gas-powered vehicles. Initially, the two-door hardtop will take the place of the current C-Class coupe and E-Class coupe. Additionally, the convertible versions of these models will be succeeded by the CLE convertible, which has been spotted in various spy shots over the past year.

Similar to the current convertibles, the upcoming CLE convertible will feature a cloth roof. This type of roof offers an elegant and compact design, while also being considerably lighter than a folding hardtop. However, it does come with the trade-off of slightly compromised structural rigidity compared to its previously fashionable counterpart.

Returning to the coupe variant, which will be unveiled next week, it is rumored to be identified by the “C236” codename. From the available information, it appears to possess a sleek body design reminiscent of the short-lived S-Class coupe, which was limited to a single generation.

The new CLE will be available in Europe, the United States, and other global markets. American dealers received early information about the two-door model back in June 2022, with Mercedes-Benz indicating that it will initially be offered with a single electrified 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. In the current C-Class sedan, this particular engine configuration delivers a combined output of 308 horsepower in the C300e plug-in hybrid variant.

Furthermore, according to an EPA document disclosed by Car and Driver in April, the CLE will also include a six-cylinder version, as well as an AMG 53 performance variant. Both rear-wheel drive and 4Matic all-wheel drive versions will be available among the various configurations.

In the previous generation, the Mercedes-AMG E53 featured a 3.0-liter inline-six engine coupled with an electric motor, producing a combined power output of 451 hp. This power was distributed to all four wheels through the brand’s 4Matic+ AWD system. It is reasonable to anticipate that the forthcoming CLE 53 AMG will offer a similar performance package when it arrives on the scene.

More details about the new two-door Mercedes-Benz will be unveiled during its official presentation on June 5. For the latest updates, be sure to regularly check DPCcars.
