Volkswagen ID. GTI Concept Tour In Detail

Prepare for a revolutionary shift as the iconic hot hatch takes a bold leap into the realm of electric mobility. Volkswagen is at the forefront of this transformation with its retro-themed ID. GTI Concept, set to make its debut at IAA Mobility 2023. This visionary concept aims to bridge 48 years of GTI tradition fueled by conventional engines with Volkswagen’s electrified future.

The recognizable red car before you might trigger thoughts of the VW ID. 2all Concept, unveiled earlier this year. However, this similarity is by design, as Volkswagen’s creative team deliberately channeled the essence of the GTI heritage while crafting the ID. GTI Concept. Adorned with stylish black and red accents, the design boasts sportier front and rear fascias, paying homage to the original Mk1 GTI. The taillights emanate a more mysterious aura, and a sleek wing atop the hatch seamlessly melds with the black window trim. The iconic GTI branding is thoughtfully integrated throughout, reaffirming its illustrious lineage.

Beneath the captivating exterior lies a high-performance single-motor powertrain, featuring an electronic differential lock that empowers the front wheels with precision control. The GTI Experience Control elevates personalization, granting the ability to fine-tune suspension dynamics, steering response, auditory feedback, and even virtual shift points – a nod to the cherished GTIs of yesteryears.

Step inside, where retro aesthetics harmonize with modern technology. The digital interior of the ID. 2all continues in the ID. GTI Concept, offering a spectrum of settings including classic gauge displays. Transporting you through time, you can opt for an experience reminiscent of driving a Mk2 GTI. Adding to the allure, an augmented heads-up display projects track layouts onto the windshield, a thrilling feature for track enthusiasts.

While the transition from concept to reality remains shrouded in intrigue, VW affirms that the interior configuration of the ID. GTI Concept – featuring a prominent 12.9-inch central screen, a 10.9-inch driver display, and an array of tactile controls – closely mirrors what will be seen in production models. VW’s confident assertion labels the ID. GTI Concept as the “first glimpse” into an electrifying GTI future that is destined for production.
