2024 Jeep Wagoneer S With 600 Horsepower 0 to 60 mph 3 4 Seconds

Jeep is making waves in the electric vehicle market with the unveiling of the Wagoneer S, its first electric vehicle for the United States. Debuted at a Thursday event in New York, this 600-horsepower, $71,995 luxury sport utility vehicle represents a bold new direction for the iconic brand.

The Wagoneer S is the second vehicle on Stellantis’ STLA-Large platform, following the Dodge Charger. It is powered by a 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack, which Jeep claims will offer a range of over 300 miles. Although the charging rate in kilowatts was not specified, the Dodge Charger’s capability to charge at up to 350 kilowatts suggests that the Wagoneer S will be one of the fastest-charging electric sport utility vehicles available. Jeep states that the Wagoneer S can charge from 20 to 80 percent in just 23 minutes using powerful direct current fast chargers.

Design-wise, the Wagoneer S departs from the traditional boxy shape of the full-size Wagoneer. At 192.4 inches in length, it is considerably shorter than the gasoline-powered Wagoneer’s 214.7 inches. The sleek design, featuring a pinched greenhouse and narrowly raked D-pillar, echoes elements of Range Rover models and contributes to a drag coefficient of 0.29. Although not as low as the Tesla Model Y’s 0.23, it is the most aerodynamically efficient Jeep to date. The iconic Jeep seven-slot grille is now ornamental, with reduced cooling needs allowing it to be illuminated for better nighttime visibility.

Inside, the Wagoneer S is packed with technology, offering 45 inches of screen space divided among the gauge cluster, main infotainment display, climate control display, and passenger display. The Launch Edition also includes a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system as standard.

The Wagoneer S features a dual-motor powertrain for all-wheel drive, delivering 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds. Despite this impressive performance, Jeep has not focused much on the vehicle’s off-road credentials, likely saving these details for the production version of the off-road-ready Wagoneer S Trailhawk concept.

Standard features of the Wagoneer S include drive modes for snow and sand, advanced safety systems, and a home level-2 charger. The Wagoneer S Launch Edition is expected to arrive at United States dealerships this fall, and Jeep may expand the lineup to include lower-priced options and possibly even a gasoline-powered version in the future.
