2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD ZR2 And Bison Revealed For Off Road Duty

Unveiling the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD ZR2 and ZR2 Bison, the latest additions to Chevrolet’s off-roading lineup, is sure to turn heads. Production is slated for this summer, but pricing details remain under wraps for now.

Offered exclusively for the 2500 Crew Cab variant of the Silverado HD, both the ZR2 and the Bison edition come with a standard 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine, boasting 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Alternatively, customers can opt for the 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8, generating 470 hp at 2,800 rpm and an impressive 975 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm. Both powertrains come with a 10-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, while an electronic-locking rear differential comes standard, controllable via a cabin button.

The Multimatic DSSV dampers give the truck a smooth ride, elevating the suspension by about 1.5 inches in both the front and rear compared to other Silverado HD models. Additional modifications include new steering knuckles, updated upper and lower control arms upfront, and a dedicated Off-Road driving mode that fine-tunes various aspects such as anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, throttle response, gear shifting, and rear differential lock-up.

Aesthetically, the Silverado HD ZR2 sports a distinctive front grille with a flow-tie emblem, wheel moldings featuring built-in mudguards, a steel skid plate safeguarding the transfer case, and an aluminum plate under the nose. The 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires on 18-inch wheels complete the exterior look.

The interior of the ZR2 showcases a blend of Jet Black and Graystone leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch instrument display, and a 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen. For those seeking extra features, a 15-inch head-up display with an incline gauge is available.

In collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), Chevrolet has once again crafted a Bison version of the HD ZR2, joining the Silverado 1500 and Colorado versions. The Bison edition includes all the standard ZR2 features, with added enhancements such as 18-inch gloss-black wheels, a stamped steel front bumper with integrated recovery points, a matching rear bumper, extra skid plates for protecting the steering rack, transfer case, and exhaust, and exclusive badging both outside and on the headrests.
