2021 VW Caddy Cargo Van – Volkswagen


Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is bringing the new Caddy to the German market. VWN customers can now test the first models at their trusted dealer. The fifth generation of the bestseller, which has been built over three million times, starts as a station wagon, family van, city delivery van – and at the beginning of 2021 also as a camper. For the first time, the all-rounder is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB), as it is also used in the Golf 8. Numerous new technologies are finding their way into the Caddy, making it even more practical, more efficient, more confident and at the same time a smartphone on wheels.

The new Caddy is available as a station wagon and van in the newly configured ‘Kombi’, ‘Caddy’, ‘Life’, ‘Style’ and ‘Move’ (launch model) and as a city delivery van in the versions ‘Cargo’ and ‘Cargo Maxi’ ‘(long wheelbase). The market launch will begin at the end of November 2020 in Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg. This is followed by the Netherlands, France and the rest of Europe and then other export markets.

First of all, the front-wheel drive 2.0L TDI, optionally with 75 kW / 102 PS, 90 kW / 122 PS or 55 kW / 75 PS, will be delivered. Just in time for the next season, the also newly developed Caddy California (motorhome as the successor to the Caddy Beach; optionally for the first time with a mini kitchen, panoramic glass roof and new tent) will expand the range of the series from January 2021. Right at the beginning of the year, the maxi versions of the Caddy (as cargo, station wagon and van) as well as the 1.5-liter TSI petrol, the Caddy with DSG and the Caddy as taxi variants will follow. Depending on the version, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will also be offering the fifth Caddy generation with 4MOTION all-wheel drive from spring 2021; this also applies to the Caddy California.

The marketing campaign is also running parallel to the market launch of the new Caddy in stores: Since November 23, 2020, content has been shown on various channels such as TV, print and social media that convince customers of the specific advantages of the new Caddy should. In a humorous TV commercial, for example, the big and small challenges of everyday life are in the foreground, and how the caddy can help. This is followed by other spots, advertisements in premium magazines and newspapers, as well as, of course, on the corresponding online formats and social media channels.
