2024 Cadillac CT6 Revealed in China

Cadillac Ceases Production of CT6 in the US, but the Luxury Sedan Continues to Thrive in China

In the early months of 2020, Cadillac made the decision to end production of its CT6 model for the US market. However, this luxobarge still found a place in the hearts of Chinese car enthusiasts, leading to its continued availability in the country. Large sedans equipped with combustion engines still hold relevance in China, the world’s second-most populous nation, to such an extent that a sequel has now emerged. Let’s welcome the 2024 CT6, which boasts a fresh and revamped appearance both inside and out. While not delving into intricate details, Cadillac has stated that this vehicle is built upon an “improved rear-wheel-drive platform” with a well-balanced weight distribution ratio of 50:50.

Drawing inspiration from the awe-inspiring Escala concept unveiled at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the exterior design of the 2024 CT6 exudes elegance. While it may not rival the grandeur and flair of the showcar, it stands out as a handsome contender amidst the vast sea of crossovers and SUVs. Another noteworthy addition to the Chinese market is the all-new Cadillac GT4, further diversifying the lineup.

The 2024 CT6 can be considered as more of an evolution rather than an entirely fresh product. It takes cues from the first-generation model but harnesses the potential of an updated Omega platform. Powering this luxury sedan is a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Given its stature as the epitome of luxury in China, the 2024 Cadillac CT6 is packed with cutting-edge technology. In addition to the already familiar 33-inch screen, it also boasts Super Cruise, Magnetic Ride Control (4.0), and a digital rearview mirror. However, there is a trade-off to be noted. The Chinese variant can only be equipped with a small four-cylinder engine, a far cry from the mighty Blackwing powertrain found in the US-spec CT6-V, which packed a twin-turbo V8 generating an impressive 550 horsepower. In contrast, the 2.0-liter engine in the Chinese CT6 produces less than half that power, clocking in at a modest 233 horsepower.

Cadillac has priced the base CT6 at RMB 359,700 ($50,800) and the flagship trim at RMB 469,700 ($66,300). In exchange for your hard-earned money, you can select the large sedan with a Renaissance Red interior as an alternative to the Jet Black and Whisper Beige options. The lavish cabin encompasses a remarkable 26-color ambient lighting system, AKG speakers, knurling textured accents with warm metallic touches, and open pore dark ash wood.

Later this year, the new CT6 will hit the Chinese market alongside the GT4 and the revised XT4, offering a range of choices to satisfy the discerning Chinese consumers.
