2023 Jeep Compass Trailhawk Specs and Overview

When envisioning off-road Jeeps, Wranglers often dominate thoughts with their rugged Rubicon escapades, conquering boulders and terrain. Yet, a more refined urban companion emerges in the form of the Jeep Compass.

Introduced in 2006, the 2023 Jeep Compass marks its third generation, consistently refining its features. Last year, an upgraded interior and enhanced connectivity were unveiled, accompanied by two Jeep 4×4 systems and “Selec-Terrain” traction control, bolstering occasional off-road capabilities.

The Trailhawk trim stands out with Active Drive Low, boasting a commendable 20:1 crawl ratio. The dash flaunts a 10.25-inch customizable driver’s info center and a cutting-edge 10.1-inch Uconnect infotainment screen. These enhancements are now standard across all Compass models, paired with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus optional wireless phone charging. The interior generously offers 100 cubic feet for passengers and nearly 60 cubic feet for cargo.

Under the hood, the 2023 Compass embraces Jeep’s 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. This prowess propels the Compass from 0 to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds, 1.5 seconds quicker than its predecessor. Its towing capacity, set at 2000 pounds, accommodates jet skis and smaller boats.

The Compass excels in urban life, emphasizing roominess and contemporary connectivity. The Trailhawk variant brings Active Drive Low, enhancing its crawl ratio to 20:1, while other models house the Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system, each offering Active, Snow, and Sand/Mud modes, with Trailhawk adding Rock mode and hill-descent control for steeper terrains.

The Compass’s versatility is underlined by its electronic differential, optimizing torque distribution for traction. For regular commutes, a fully disconnecting rear axle enhances fuel efficiency when 4×4 power isn’t needed.

With prices spanning $31,590 to $40,430, the Compass accommodates various budgets, while the Trailhawk beckons adventure seekers at $37,835. Whether traversing city streets or venturing off-road, the 2023 Jeep Compass caters to diverse preferences.
