The “brand-new” GLA 45 S is following in the tracks of the recently updated GT63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe, which also got a few visual touch-ups earlier this month. According to AMG, this sporty crossover is in for a substantial makeover, complete with standard 20-inch wheels and an optional set of 21-inch ones. What’s more, the wheel arch extensions, once black, have now been painted to match the rest of the car’s body color. This tweak, we believe, gives it an even closer resemblance to an oversized hot hatch than a traditional crossover.
When you step inside the 2024 GLA 45 S, you’ll find the latest AMG Performance steering wheel as a standard feature. Moreover, the MBUX infotainment system has received an upgrade with increased processing power and a brand-new AMG-specific interface. Mercedes has also enhanced the USB charging power and tossed in an extra USB-C port. And, of course, you can count on wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Under the hood, there are no changes to report. The 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine remains in its rightful place, still churning out a robust 416 horsepower and a healthy 369 pound-feet of torque. This power is efficiently sent to an all-wheel-drive system that can vary the distribution, all managed by an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. The AMG GLA 45 S can dash from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.3 seconds and tops out at a respectable 168 mph.
