Rumored Tesla Cybertruck Range To Be 350 Miles

The highly anticipated Tesla Cybertruck could potentially make its debut with a battery pack that has a reported range of 350 miles. This information comes from a Twitter user named Bearded Tesla, who claims to have had confidential conversations with three individuals familiar with the matter.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it would mean that Tesla’s first-ever pickup truck falls short of the initial claim of a 620-mile range when the Cybertruck was first unveiled in 2019. However, it would still be on par with the dual-motor Rivian R1T and slightly less than the Chevrolet Silverado EV, which boasts a 450-mile driving range.

Interestingly, the Ford F-150 Lightning, with its Extended-Range pack, would be surpassed by the rumored 350-mile variant of the Cybertruck, as it offers a maximum driving distance of 320 miles. Furthermore, there is also the GMC Hummer EV 3X pickup, which recently received a range boost to 381 miles for the upcoming 2024 model year. However, General Motors, the manufacturer of the GMC Hummer, has not yet provided a specific production date for this model.

Tesla’s all-electric pickup truck officially entered production just last week, with the team at Gigafactory Texas proudly posing next to the vehicle. It’s been almost four years since the Cybertruck was first unveiled as a prototype back in November 2019.

At the time of its unveiling, Tesla’s website stated that the angular pickup truck would offer customers a choice of four different powertrain options, each with a varying range:

1. Single motor rear-wheel drive with a range of 250 miles.
2. Dual motor all-wheel drive with a range of 300 miles.
3. Tri motor all-wheel drive with a range of 500 miles.
4. Quad motor all-wheel drive with a range of 620 miles.

Initially, Tesla announced prices starting at $39,900 for the base rear-wheel drive variant and $49,900 for the dual-motor all-wheel drive trim. However, in 2021, Tesla removed all pricing and specifications from its website, leaving uncertainty regarding the final cost of the Cybertruck when it becomes available for purchase, potentially in September of this year.

Considering Chevrolet’s decision to remove the $40,000 variant of the Silverado EV, it is possible that Tesla may follow a similar path and ask for a higher price for the Cybertruck than originally planned.
