Porsche Vision 357 is homage to the first Porsche model line the 356

Porsche, the luxury sports car manufacturer, will be celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2023. To commemorate this milestone, the company has created a new concept car, the Vision 357, which pays homage to the company’s first model, the 356. The Style Porsche Team was responsible for reinterpreting the 356 for the modern era, creating a sleek and innovative design.

The Vision 357 concept car is designed to be futuristic, with some notable features such as hidden door handles, which are located within the rear side glass, and cameras that replace traditional side mirrors. The front and back lights of the car are hidden behind perforations in the body panels, while the third brake light is integrated into the rear grille motif, reminiscent of the original 356. The car’s glass is also designed to be unique, with the windows wrapped around the black A-pillars to create a single piece that resembles a helmet visor. Additionally, the car is equipped with 20-inch magnesium wheels with carbon-fiber hubcaps that Porsche claims are aerodynamically advantageous.

The exterior of the Vision 357 is finished in a two-tone paint scheme, with Ice Gray Metallic covering most of the car and Grivola Gray Metallic accenting the front bumper. Big “75” decals adorn the doors and hood, while subtle “357” stickers reside on the front fenders and rear fascia. The company has also marked the air intakes in the rear side windows with “Air” decals and arrows pointing to the inlets. The car’s exhaust is expelled through bluish-looking titanium tailpipes that have ceramic interiors.

The Vision 357 is primarily a styling concept, and while the company has not revealed any details about the car’s powertrain, it is believed that it is built on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS technology platform, which would lend the car its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. Porsche claims that the car would theoretically draw 493 horsepower from the block. It also noted that it would design the mid-mounted powertrain to accommodate synthetic fuels, though it has not indicated that it has any plans to produce the car.

The Vision 357 will be on display at a special exhibit in Berlin celebrating 75 years of Porsche sports cars. The exhibition at Volkswagen Group’s Drive Forum will open on January 27th and run until mid-February, with Porsche planning to present the concept at other international events throughout the year.
