2024 Bentley Batur with 740 Horsepower

Bentley’s remarkable grand touring masterpiece, the custom-crafted Batur by Mulliner, has successfully completed its extensive vehicle development program, ensuring its adherence to the highest standards of performance and durability. Now, the attention turns to the creation of customer cars, where each vehicle will display an unparalleled level of personalized craftsmanship, requiring about four months of intricate handcrafting. The final exceptional piece is anticipated to be finished by the end of 2024.

Continuing the development journey, two prototype vehicles, known as Car Zero and Car Zero-Zero, have been born into existence. These prototypes embody the same impeccable craftsmanship as the upcoming 18 customer cars. Car Zero features a unique bespoke exterior finish called Purple Sector, coupled with front splitters, side skirts, and a rear diffuser, all showcasing a glossy natural fiber finish. The main matrix grille, finished in Gloss Dark Titanium, is adorned with contrasting chevrons in a horizontally graduated ombré pattern, shifting from the vibrant Purple Sector at the center to the deep Black Crystal at the edges. The iconic ‘endless bonnet’ line and the 22″ wheels, with spokes in Gloss and Satin Black Crystal, are gracefully completed in Satin Titanium.

Another development vehicle, Engineering Car Zero-Zero, boasts the equally stunning Marina Teal finish. These exclusive finishes, along with distinctive components like the one-of-a-kind LED headlamp units, have undergone rigorous tests for durability. These tests encompassed a demanding 2,500 km European tour, high-speed trials on closed circuits, and prolonged exposure to challenging environments. Overall, more than 800 unique components have been thoroughly tested and validated during an intense 160-week development period.

As the most potent creation from Bentley thus far, the Batur draws its power from the acclaimed W12 engine, with its roots tracing back to the 2003 Continental GT. The W12 engine has played a central role in Bentley’s ascent to the pinnacle of automotive luxury, continuously evolving to deliver greater power, refinement, and efficiency with each successive generation. In the context of Bentley’s journey towards full electrification, the W12 engine in the Batur serves as both a tribute to this remarkable powertrain and its final grand performance. Boasting an astonishing peak output of 750PS, it stands as the most powerful W12 engine ever produced, making it the mightiest powertrain in any Bentley vehicle. The engine has undergone extensive development work spanning over 100 weeks, including testing of its new air intake system, modified turbochargers, revised intercoolers, and meticulously calibrated engine, transmission, and electronic stability control. The awe-inspiring performance of the engine is complemented by the most advanced Bentley chassis specification to date, featuring Speed-tuned air suspension, electric active anti-roll control, eLSD, four-wheel steering, and torque vectoring.

A new era of coachbuilding has emerged with the Batur, enabled by state-of-the-art technologies harnessed by Mulliner. These innovations provide customers with an unparalleled range of customization options in today’s automotive landscape. Incorporating sustainable materials such as natural fibers and technologies like Additive Manufactured Gold, Mulliner’s designers now have an almost limitless array of choices, allowing customers to bring their unique vision of the ultimate grand tourer to life. Every intricate detail, including options for the Charisma Dial and Organ Stop air vent control in 18ct yellow gold, has undergone scrupulous development scrutiny, enduring a diverse array of tests, ranging from thermal endurance to resistance against sun cream.

Having triumphed in all trials with resounding success, the Batur is now poised to embark on the next chapter of its journey. The entire allocation of 18 Batur vehicles has already been reserved by enthusiastic customers, who can actively partake in the co-creation process, guided by Mulliner’s in-house design team. After selecting personalized color and finish options for nearly every surface of the Batur, each individual vehicle will undergo a painstaking handcrafting process in the upcoming months at Mulliner’s workshop, nestled within Bentley’s carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, England. Estimated to take around four months per car, these extraordinary grand tourers will soon grace the roads, embodying the fusion of luxury, craftsmanship, and individuality.
