PORSCHE 911 GTS AMERICA EDITION! All You Need To Know

Introducing the Porsche special edition sports car tailor-made for the American market. The forthcoming 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America was set to hit showrooms in late 2022 as part of the 2023 model lineup, and it promises to be one of the rarest Type 992 models due to its limited production.

This new offering continues a long-standing tradition that originated back in 1952, when Porsche began manufacturing open-top, enthusiast-focused sports cars exclusively for the North American market. Based on the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, the new model maintains the same high-performance chassis and powertrain. To emphasize the thrill of driving, it will be exclusively available with a seven-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America Inc., expressed the brand’s recognition of the profound passion for Porsche vehicles in the United States. He highlighted the special appeal of cruising the open road in a manual transmission-equipped 911, a combination that perfectly resonates with American driving enthusiasts. Gruner further noted that this timing is ideal for adding another “America” model to the Porsche legacy, as they commemorate 70 years since the 356 America Roadster and 30 years since the 964 America Roadster.

Under the hood, the new 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America boasts a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter boxer six-cylinder engine, capable of generating an impressive 473 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard equipment includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sport, which lowers the ride height by 10 mm and adds helper springs to the rear axle. Additionally, the Sport Exhaust and Sport Chrono Package are both included as standard. Customers have the option to enhance their driving experience further with rear axle steering and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) at an additional cost. The brake system features 408 mm (16-inch) cast iron rotors with six-piston aluminum fixed calipers in the front, and 380 mm (14.9-inch) rotors with four-piston fixed aluminum calipers finished in black at the rear.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur has applied a series of aesthetic changes to make this sports car visually captivating both from afar and up close. The exterior color, Azure Blue 356, draws inspiration from the 1953 356 America Roadster and is reserved exclusively for this special vehicle in the 2023 model year. The windshield frame receives a Satin Black finish, while the RS Spyder Design Wheels are meticulously crafted with white interior spokes, silver outermost surfaces, and a Guards Red pinstripe along the rim’s edge.

On the sides of the car, white decals with Guards Red accents proudly display the “America” emblem, while the rear showcases “911 Carrera” in white and “GTS” in Guards Red.

Inside the cabin, the color scheme continues with Guards Red cross stitching and surrounding Pebble Grey stitching, which can be found on the upper dashboard, door panels, and center console armrest. The leather upholstery bears the embossed “America” insignia. The car comes equipped with unique illuminated door sill plates, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the 356 America Roadster, along with a black leather interior, Guards Red seat belts, white tachometer and instrument cluster, and a heated GT Sport steering wheel.

Customers can opt for an extended interior package that enhances the theme even further. The package includes a Guards Red 12 o’clock marking on the steering wheel, Guards Red cross stitching on the inside edge of the wheel, two-tone stitching on the shift boot, and a Guards Red gear pattern on the manual lever. The Sport Seats Plus feature double stitching in Guards Red and Pebble Grey, with “911” stitching in Guards Red on the headrests and leather backrest release loops. The floor mats continue the two-tone stitching pattern in Guards Red and Pebble Grey. Completing the package is a vehicle key painted in Azure Blue 356 to match the car, along with a leather key pouch featuring two-tone stitching and an embossed “America” logo.

As for pricing and availability, the 2023 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships in late 2022. The starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) will be $184,920, excluding the $1,450 delivery, processing, and handling fee. With the extended interior package, the MSRP increases to $192,430, also excluding the $1,450 delivery, processing, and handling fee.
