The production of the 2024 BMW iX2 is set to commence at the BMW Group Plant in Regensburg, Germany. Carsten Regent, the head of the Regensburg plant, mentioned that the all-electric BMW iX2 will be manufactured at this location from the end of the year, aligning with BMW’s continued transformation towards electric vehicle production at the Regensburg plant12. The iX2 will follow the production of the iX1 model, which has been rolling off the lines in Regensburg since autumn 2022. All versions of the new BMW X2 and iX2 will share a single assembly line at this facility, with the iX2’s high-voltage batteries also being produced on-site4.
It’s notable that production is gearing up with European deliveries of the iX2 scheduled to commence in March 2024, and a second all-electric version is expected to follow in the summer. To facilitate the production of the iX2, BMW plans to hire around 500 new employees at the Regensburg site and invest more than 350 million euros in vehicle production by late 2023.
