Honda Elevate SUV Unveiled In India

After witnessing the rise and fall of the Dodge Rampage during the early 1980s, followed by a concept of the same name in 2006, the mid-size SUV market has become an immensely popular and competitive realm in the Indian automotive industry. This segment is dominated by prominent and influential players who have established their presence. Despite the emergence of new contenders in recent times, the Hyundai Creta has maintained its position as the best-selling mid-size SUV.

However, Honda Cars India, with its limited lineup comprising only the Amaze and City sedans after discontinuing the Jazz and WR-V, is poised to make a significant foray into this burgeoning segment. The upcoming addition to their portfolio, aptly named the ‘Elevate,’ is anticipated to be a game-changer for the Japanese automaker.

Currently devoid of any SUV offerings, Honda has missed out on the remarkable success and popularity that elevated vehicles are currently enjoying. The introduction of the Elevate is expected to rectify this situation and bring Honda back into the limelight.

Nevertheless, the Honda Elevate will face fierce competition from established players, including the Hyundai Creta, as well as the soon-to-be-facelifted Kia Seltos and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, which has garnered a respectable market share since its entry. To pose a formidable challenge to the segment leader, Honda will need to price the Elevate competitively.

Enthusiasts and potential buyers can anticipate a plethora of features in the Elevate. While many features will be inherited from the City, the mid-size SUV is expected to outdo its sibling, given the cutthroat nature of this segment. The prospective offerings may include a generous infotainment system, a partially digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, advanced connectivity features, a wireless charger, an electric single-pane sunroof, and a comprehensive safety suite encompassing up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control (TC), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and even Honda Sensing Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology in the higher variants.

By incorporating these exciting features and aiming for a competitive price point, the Honda Elevate is poised to make a grand entrance into the highly contested mid-size SUV market, shaking up the status quo and potentially redefining the automotive landscape in India.
