The BMW Alpina B5 GT is a new, limited-edition model from the renowned car tuner, Alpina. The B5 GT is available in two body styles, a sedan and a wagon, and boasts Alpina’s most powerful engine to date. Under the hood, the B5 GT is powered by BMW’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine, which has been tuned to produce 634 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of torque. To achieve this, Alpina added a flow-optimized air intake duck and air intake silencer, updated the engine software, and increased the boost pressure, resulting in an increase of 13 horsepower and pound-feet of torque over the stock output.
The B5 GT’s performance is impressive, with the sedan capable of reaching 62 miles per hour in less than 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph. The wagon is also quick, with a 0-62 mph time of less than 3.6 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph. Power is routed through an updated eight-speed automatic transmission, and braking is handled by four-piston Brembo brakes with 15.5-inch front rotors and 15.7-inch rear rotors. The B5 GT also features twin tailpipes coated in titanium nitride for a black finish, and Alpina’s signature 20-inch, 20-spoke Classic wheel design finished in Marron Volciano.
The B5 GT’s exterior is available in standard blue or green colors, as well as six specialty colors: Arctic Race Blue, Petrol Mica, Verde British Racing, Chalk, Imola Red, and Daytona Violet. The interior is trimmed in Nappa leather as standard, but full Merino leather is available as an option, along with various trim options and upgrades, such as Alpina’s Walnut Anthracite fine wood trim. Alpina also offers a bespoke upholstery package, which includes better-bolstered sports seats finished in black Dakota leather with black Alcantara seat inserts, blue accents, and Alpina branding.
The BMW Alpina B5 GT is available for order now, with deliveries starting in July. The sedan starts at $157,000 and the wagon starts at $160,000.
