2024 Abarth 500e Cabrio Turismo EV

Unveiling the inaugural electric automobile adorned with the legendary scorpion insignia, Fiat presents the 2023 Abarth 500e. This striking masterpiece is cloaked in a fierce black hue that’s bound to make onlookers do a double-take. While it packs an extra punch, it falls just shy of earning the full-blown hot hatch designation.

In the company of the recently refreshed petrol-driven Abarth 500, both vehicles exhibit similar performance prowess. The innovative electric alternative benefits from an additional 38 horsepower and 11 pound-feet of torque in comparison to the conventional large-battery 500e. Amassing a total of 155 hp and 162 pound-feet of torque, the Abarth 500e dashes from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 7 seconds—approximately 2 seconds quicker than the standard 117 hp version.

Notably, Fiat has a proclivity for revealing extra-special Abarth 500 editions with amplified power and daring configurations. As such, it wouldn’t be a surprise to witness a parallel approach with the new electric iteration. The automaker proclaims the vehicle to be “more Abarth than ever,” suggesting they’ve strived to embody the quintessential Abarth essence within an electric framework.

Fiat maintains that they’ve encapsulated the Abarth spirit by integrating simulated petrol engine acoustics within the cabin to augment the perception of velocity. Standard on the launch edition and optional for other trims, this auditory generator can be deactivated if preferred. However, if executed seamlessly and unobtrusively, it may enrich the driving experience for some drivers.

Empowering the Abarth 500e is a 42 kWh battery pack, identical to its Fiat 500e sibling. It charges at a maximum rate of 85 kW, enabling 80% battery rejuvenation in a mere 35 minutes. A brisk 5-minute charge can contribute an extra 25 miles (40 km) to the vehicle’s overall range. While the manufacturer has yet to reveal the Abarth 500e’s precise range, it is anticipated to be marginally less than the Fiat 500e due to the heightened power and assertive tires.
