2025 Lotus Envya Electric Sedan Type 133 Testing and Development

Recently, Lotus has been observed testing prototypes for its forthcoming electric four-door, a model that could potentially be called Envya, as suggested by the carmaker’s latest trademark filings.

The sedan, internally designated as Type 133, was announced back in 2021, along with three other electric vehicles (EVs). These encompass the Eletre mid-sized SUV, which made its premiere last year, a compact crossover (code-named Type 134), and a sports car (code-named Type 135).

The team at Kolesa crafted a pair of renders, offering a glimpse into the potential appearance of the upcoming Lotus. Given their track record of accurately forecasting future vehicle designs, we have reason to believe that these renders closely resemble the actual vehicle.

The electric sedan is anticipated to be unveiled later this year. The compact crossover is slated for a 2025 debut, followed by the sports car in 2026. The sports car is predicted to be the spiritual successor to the Elise, and its foundation will be employed for a future sports vehicle from France’s Alpine.

Although Lotus has verified the Eletre SUV’s U.S. release in 2024, the carmaker has not mentioned the availability of any other models in the American market. Should the sedan be approved for a U.S. launch, it will likely arrive in 2024 as a 2025 model.

The sedan exhibits a familiar coupe-like silhouette, amalgamated with design elements inspired by the Eletre, even including the SUV’s triangular active shutters situated in the front fascia’s central intake. The sedan, like the Eletre, also boasts cameras in place of conventional side mirrors, although this feature might not be accessible on vehicles sold in the United States.

The Electric Premium Architecture dedicated EV platform, employed in the Eletre, will likely serve as the foundation for the sedan. The SUV’s platform is combined with up to 905 horsepower and a 112 kWh battery capacity, supporting dual-motor all-wheel drive, air suspension, and 350 kW charging. It is reasonable to anticipate similar characteristics in the sedan.

The development of the sedan, alongside the Eletre and the upcoming compact crossover, is overseen by Lotus Technology, the division in charge of non-sports car models within Lotus. The production of these vehicles will be managed by Lotus Technology at a facility in Wuhan, China. In February, the division declared its intention to go public via a SPAC deal with Nasdaq-listed L Catterton Asia Acquisition Corp.
