2024 Skoda Kodiaq Design Sketches and Renders Before Reveal

Skoda is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of its 2024 Kodiaq, aiming to ensure that this flagship SUV doesn’t go unnoticed by potential buyers.

Similar to its predecessors in the Skoda SUV lineup, the 2024 Kodiaq maintains its distinctive double headlights, giving it a sense of familiarity rather than a complete design overhaul.

When we examine the design sketches, we notice two different taillight designs. However, it remains uncertain which one will be available in the final production model. Both designs feature a C-shaped motif, but the yellow variant emphasizes this motif, while the silver one adopts a light bar that spans the entire width of the tailgate. It’s worth noting that automakers typically avoid offering two different taillight setups due to increased manufacturing costs. Therefore, consumers will have to wait for the official announcement to determine which taillight configuration will be featured.

While these sketches don’t reveal the complete picture, Skoda has already disclosed that the 2024 Kodiaq will be 61 millimeters (2.4 inches) longer than its predecessor, with a consistent wheelbase of 2791 mm (110 inches). Opting for the five-seat version grants a significant boost in cargo capacity, with 75 additional liters, totaling 910 liters, when the rear bench is folded down. In contrast, the three-row model offers a maximum of 845 liters. Moreover, there’s a slight increase in headroom for passengers in the rear seats, compared to the previous model. These details have allowed Kolesa to create visual renderings, offering a glimpse of the upcoming SUV’s appearance.

While the exterior design appears to be an evolution of the current model, the interior of the 2024 Kodiaq represents a significant departure from its predecessor. It will feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a spacious 13-inch infotainment screen, and three “Smart Dials,” each with a 1.25-inch diagonal. These compact screens can be customized to access various functions, simplifying the center console layout by reducing the need for numerous physical buttons.

Underneath, the 2024 Kodiaq will utilize the MQB Evo platform from the Volkswagen Group. Powertrain options will include the familiar 1.5 TSI, 2.0 TSI, and 2.0 TDI engines, all paired with a dual-clutch, seven-speed automatic transmission. A noteworthy addition is the plug-in hybrid variant, built around the 1.5 TSI engine and connected to a six-speed DSG transmission. Depending on the chosen engine, some models will offer front-wheel drive, while others will feature all-wheel drive capabilities.

The world premiere of the 2024 Kodiaq is scheduled to occur in the coming days, where all the details about this highly anticipated SUV will be unveiled.
